Gov. Almakura Tasks Elected Chairmen on attention to Security and Good Governance

Nasarawa state Governor, His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has tasked chairmen of local Government areas in the state to secure their communities and promote social harmony and intergration amongst diverse ethnic groups in their areas.

Governor Almakura said this in Lafia during the swearing in of newly elected chairmen of local Government areas at the Government House which was filled to capacity.

The thirteen Chairmen of Local Government areas have a mandate of three years to provide good governance in the third tier of Government.

As a Government that is closer to the people, Governor Almakura says they must ensure the peace of their communities especially those recently ravaged by farmers/herders crisis.

He also task them on provision of social amenities inspite of limited resources even as he warns against mismanagement of resources.

The State Government on its part is to commenced the disbursement of stipends to indigent people and youths across the state to the tune of 1.5 billion naira under its social investment program.

Governor Almakura urge the Chairmen to be fair and just to all irrespective of political divides.

Chairman of Obi local Government area, mohammed Iyimoga assures the people of the state that under their leadership, they will provide effective leadership and good governance to the people in rural areas.

The last Local Government election in Nasarawa state was conducted in 2014 , with Saturday’s election Nasarawa State has become one of the few states that have conducted elections twice all thanks to Governor Umaru Tank Almakura.
